Breastfeeding Awareness Week

100,000+ children die every year in India, from diseases that could easily be prevented if the child was on breastfeeding for the first 6 months of its life!
Mother’s milk contains antibodies that help child fight viruses and infections and lays a foundation. There is NO ALTERNATIVE to Mother’s Milk in the first 6 months.
CARE India works extensively to encourage breastfeeding for better health of both – the infant and the mother. Key areas of our work:

• Facilitate breastfeeding by building the capacity of community health workers
• Organising awareness campaigns to reach mothers and families and make them a part of the movement
• Training pregnant women and new mothers by demonstrating proper feeding techniques

With this year’s theme of ‘Step Up For Breastfeeding: Educate and Support’, we urge everyone to support the Breastfeeding Awareness Week – 1st to 7th August 2022.
