National Consultation on Ending Violence and Sexual Harassment in the World of Work

National Consultation on Ending Violence and Sexual Harassment in the World of Work
May 02, 2019. Past

The International Labour Conference (ILC) is less than three months away. The International Labour Organisation (ILO) will be announcing a new Convention to put an end to violence and harassment in the world of work.

CARE’s campaign over the past two years for a new ILO Convention has focussed on ensuring that this potential new treaty is robust and inclusive to protect those most vulnerable to violence and harassment at work.

The text for the proposed treaty expected in June 2019 is strong and must be defended from stakeholders pushing for a less progressive and inclusive treaty. That is why CARE will continue to put forward its position to help ensure the best global agreement and national action possible to bring an end to violence and harassment at workplaces worldwide.

In this backdrop, CARE India is organising a roundtable to reconvene the stakeholders associated with the publication of ILO’s White report and subsequent publications. The primary agenda of the roundtable will be to deliberate on ILO’s latest Blue report, relevant policy asks and way forward.
