A two-day training on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) was organised for the 75 members (girls) of the 7 Girls’ Collectives in Mahsi block, district Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. The participants were made aware of the various aspects of safety and security during floods, safe and healthy practices during menstruation, preparations for safe Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) during floods, care of pregnant and lactating women, gender-based violence and life skills for self-care. Health tips to prevent other illnesses during floods were also provided.

CARE India is working in 7 villages of the Mahsi block in Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh with an aim to improve the resilience among the flood affected families (project – Building resilient communities, supported by AXA). As part of the project, we identified that access to safe and healthy sexual and reproductive health information is essential for adolescent girls to keep themselves safe and healthy during flood situations.
