Sushila Varma is Head of Strategy for CARE India.
She is a passionate leader, who is most excited about solving problems. She leads CARE’s ‘Design Centre’ and ‘Innovation Centre’, that aims to use the Tech powers to innovatively solve the problems faced by the grassroot, all over the world. She is responsible for leading strategic initiatives for the organization to ensure alignment with CARE India’s Vision 2030.
She brings an experience of over 19 years, in variety of roles, spread across Strategy, Resource Mobilization, Business Development, Marketing and Operations, which provides her an opportunity to blend the big picture thinking with the bottom up ground realities.
Before moving into the development sector in 2010, she spent about ten years in the news media industry and was associated with organisations like The Hindustan Times, India Today Group etc. Prior to joining CARE in 2017, she was associated with Concern India Foundation and CRY.
Sushila is most proud of launching a scholarship program, for students from less privileged households. This program launched in 2015, continues to expand and touch the lives of hundreds of students every year.
Sushila is a Swedish Institute Alumnus, passionate advocate of human rights, social justice, gender equality and environmental sustainability.
