Clean Energy Solutions

Increasing the adoption of sustainable lifestyle by transiting towards clean energy option by adopting an incremental approach to increase the awareness of women on clean energy for household use, and various financial and technical interventions.

CARE India’s Clean Energy Solutions initiative uses energy-based interventions to increase the adoption of sustainable lifestyle by transiting towards clean energy option. We do this by adopting an incremental approach to increase the awareness of women on clean energy for household use, facilitating acquisition of improved cook stove (ICS), financial and technical interventions, and influencing men and other stakeholders in the ICS ecosystem to be supportive of women’s endeavours for clean energy transition.

Food and Water

  • Declining natural soil and water conservation structures cause hilly terrains, which experience high levels of precipitation to become discharge zones.
  • Irrigation is becoming increasingly difficult due to declining groundwater availability.
  • Shortage of natural resources have led to food production being a primary sustanance in nature.

Food and Energy

  • The Dangs districts are largely dependent on traditional methods for food production.
  • Hilly regions and uneven land lead to a decrease in agricultural activity.
  • Lack of technical availability and advancement reduces the primary value addition in crops.
  • Labour intensive farming, seen primarily in women, leads to high levels of drudgery.

Water and Energy

  • Diesel operated irrigation pumps are both expensive and harmful to the environment.
  • Smallholder farmers can neither afford nor access advanced irrigation facilities, leading to a large dependence on rainfed cultivate.
