Enhancing The Sustainable Farming Initiative (ESFI) By Integrating Gender And Nutrition

CARE India’s Project – Enhancing Sustainable Farming Initiative by Integrating Gender and Nutrition (EnSIGN) in West Bengal. This project seeks to develop approaches and evidence-based metrics to integrate gender and nutrition into the Sustainable Farming Initiative (SFI). As a part of this initiative, CARE India also implemented a pilot with 500 potato growing households in Kotulpur district of West Bengal. This project is a part of CARE India’s long term program focused on Dalits.

Highlights

  • After rigorous follow up and planning CARE India team has received the approval letter from the government health department to initiate the Ensigns Baseline study.
  • Field test of baseline tools which is used for baseline study has been completed by IIHMR in coordination with Care India Ensign Team.
  • Support has been provided to resource agency in translation in the local language (in Bengali) of baseline tools correction to make it concrete.
  • Team has been involved in rolling out Formative Research after exclusive training; formative research was rolled out for information collection. The transcript of formative research has been translated from local language i.e. Bengali to English.
