Improving Maternal Health Through Engaging Family And Community

CARE India, through its earlier intervention “Join My Village (JMV) Maternal and Neo Natal Health” initiative has been working to intensify integrated maternal and new-born health with a focus on assimilating gender interventions in selected districts of Uttar Pradesh. The goal of the project is to improve maternal health by engaging spouse, family and community and empower women from marginalized communities.

Highlights

  • The project is being implemented in two blocks of Barabanki district, Uttar Pradesh. The project is working with Mothers Committee to enhance their capabilities related to health knowledge and uptake and to support each other and mentor adolescent girls.
  • Capacity building and orientation of service providers, their attitude, knowledge and skills to ensure quality maternal health services to the community.
  • Working with men’s groups on sexual and reproductive health issues including women’s health, child care, family planning and domestic violence issues is something which we are doing to involve men and to have better results as envisaged in the project.
