It was in 2015, when Anuradha Yadav, a Nutrition Volunteer for CARE India’s MPNP project, helped identify 49 malnourished children in her village, Kamlanagar, Madhya Pradesh.

Among the Madhya Pradesh Nutrition Project (MPNP) villages, Kamlanagar had one of the highest population of malnourished children, as most of the families there lived in poverty, and would migrate to cities due to limited livelihood opportunities. After many counselling sessions with the families, Anuradha managed to admit 11 children to the nearest Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre for treatment. Her regular counselling sessions with the villagers have further helped 23 other children to fight malnutrition.

She is dedicated to eradicate malnutrition from her village, and is currently working with the remaining 15 malnourished children. She is hopeful that her efforts will lead to a community with zero malnourishment.

“People in my village need to understand the menace of malnutrition and its impact on their children’s health. I will not stop till I achieve my dream of a village with zero malnutrition among children” – Anuradha Yadav
