CARE India Initiative for Providing Health & Livelihoods support women and girls from backward communities.

The Khushaal Madhepura Project is implemented by CARE in 7 villages of Madhepura district in Bihar. This project uses a multi-sectoral approach while working on the verticals of Livelihood and Health in order to bring about positive changes in the lives of children, adolescents and youth.CARE India has been helping to enhance the skills of young men (above 16 years of age) and young women (between the ages of 12 to 16), to achieve their objective of improved livelihoods and health through a participatory process. The primary approach used in this project is ensuring participation of adolescents.

This project develops and implement solutions at both the household and system level by engaging with the ecosystem in order to get an insight to the problems prevailing in the targeted area.This initiative is planned in a way that it acts as a multiplier of development for the community by giving the community an access to health and economic developmental opportunities.

 

Key Interventions:

  • Empowerment of Adolescent girls to be agents of change for transformation in attitudes norms and behaviours on health and hygiene and employability in the community.
  • Women and youth from poor and disadvantaged households access dignified and sustainable livelihood options.
  • Employability ecosystem is responsive and supportive of needs and aspirations of women and girls from poor and disadvantaged households.
  • Enable marginalized households with pregnant and lactating mothers and children in 0-6 years age group gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.
